My [Platform Name] Developer Promise
Children and Youth Developer Code of Conduct
Welcome! You are now part of a group of young developers building skills for robots together. That's pretty cool — and it also comes with some responsibility. This Promise lays out what we ask you to do (and not do) so that the platform stays safe, kind, and fun for everyone.
This is NOT a contract — the contract is a separate document called the Children and Youth Developer Agreement. If you are a Child between ages 5 and 12, your parent or guardian signed that contract for you; if you are a Teen between ages 13 and 17, you signed it yourself. Either way, this Promise is YOUR personal pledge to the platform — your promise to be a thoughtful, safe, and respectful member of the community. Please read each item carefully. If you don't understand something, ask a parent or teacher. Then write your initials next to each item to show you agree.
Things I Will Do
1. I will be honest about who I am. I will only use my own account. I won't pretend to be older than I am, and I won't pretend to be someone else.
2. I will keep my account safe. I won't share my password with friends, classmates, or anyone online. If I think someone else got into my account, I'll tell my parent or the platform right away.
3. I will respect other people. Other developers are real people with real feelings. I will be kind and encouraging in comments and interactions, and treat everyone the way I'd want to be treated.
4. I will test my skills in simulation first. Before running any new skill on a real robot, I will test it in the simulator to make sure it works safely. If my code has a bug, a real robot could break things or hurt someone.
5. I will only use the robot in safe places, with grown-up permission. I'll use real hardware where it won't bump into people, pets, or fragile objects — and when I'm not sure, I'll ask a parent or teacher first.
6. I will create my own skills. If I want to use someone else's code, models, images, or sounds, I'll only use things that are clearly allowed for me to use, and give credit when I should. If I remix another developer's skill, I'll keep their attribution.
7. I will ask for help when I need it. It's totally okay not to know something. If anything feels confusing, scary, or unsafe, I'll tell a parent, teacher, or trusted adult.
Things I Will Not Do
8. I will not share personal information. I won't write my real name, school, address, phone number, friends' names, or photos of myself / my family in any skill, comment, or message. I also won't ask others to share theirs.
9. I will not talk to strangers in unsafe ways. If anyone messages me asking for personal information, asking to meet in person, asking for photos, or making me uncomfortable, I will not respond — I'll tell a parent or teacher and use the platform's report button.
10. I will not make skills that could hurt or scare people. No skills involving violence, scary pranks, weapons, hate, bullying, or anything not appropriate for minors. The full content standards are in the Agreement, Section 5.4.
11. I will not break the robot's safety limits. Robots have built-in limits on speed, force, and range. I won't try to disable, bypass, or hack them — they exist to keep people safe.
12. I will not try to make money on the platform. This is an open, sharing platform — every skill is provided to other users for free. I won't try to sell skills, accept tips, embed ads, redirect users to outside commercial services, or do any kind of commercial activity.
13. I will not try to break or hack the platform. I won't try to get around the rules, log into accounts that aren't mine, or use parts of the platform I'm not supposed to use.
14. I will not pretend my skill does things it doesn't. When I publish a skill on the platform, I will honestly describe what it does.
If I See Something Wrong
If I see another developer breaking these promises, or a skill makes me uncomfortable, scared, or worried, I'll use the platform's Report button or tell a parent or teacher. Reporting isn't "tattling" — it helps keep everyone safe.
If my own skill gets removed by the platform but I think it was a mistake, I (or my parent) can request a review under Section 5A of the Agreement.

If I Break a Promise
Everyone makes mistakes — that's part of learning. If I accidentally break a promise, the team might just remind me of the rule. But if I keep breaking it on purpose, here's what could happen:
• My skill might be removed or hidden until I fix it.
• My account might be paused for a while.
• My parent will be told what happened so we can talk about it together.
• In serious cases, my account could be closed.
This isn't to scare you — it's just so you know what's at stake. The point of these rules is to make this a great place for everyone to learn and create.
